NEW USMMA 2008 CHALLENGE COINS

The Indiana/Kentucky/Tennessee USMMA Parents Club is proud to announce the next in the USMMA Challenge Coin Collection.

A Challenge coin has a lot of history. During World War I, American volunteers from all parts of the country filled the newly formed flying squadrons. A Challenge coin saved an officers life. Hence, the tradition of "Coin Check" was developed.

Next April, the Class of 2008 will received the IN/KY/TN Club class challenge coin featuring the USMMA crest and an image of their 2008 class ring.  These Class Challenge Coins are available only to graduates.

Our Club has also commissioned a special parents, alumni and student Commemorative Challenge Coin. This coin is available for purchase.  About 2 inches in diameter it has all of the exquisite detail of the midshipmen’s Class Coin above.  This commemorative coin is perfect for a special gift or memento for those who have been close to USMMA or to your midshipmen’s journey through the Academy.  These are truly collector quality coins and make great gifts.

The coins are large, just over 2" in diameter. The 2008 Class Ring image is on back of the coin.

Price is $15.00 (USD) per coin.  Includes shipping and handling for US shipments.

Please allow 1-3 weeks to arrive.

You can order by mail and check.

By Mail: Fill out this form and send with your check payable to USMMA Parent Club of IN/KY/TN to Chuck Shafer, Treasurer, 5079 Pelican Place; Carmel, IN 46033

A few of the inaugural 2006 coins and second year 2007 coins are still available. If you buy all 3 (2006, 2007 and 2008) the price is $35 for the set.

For those with students at sea, you might be able to find and track your midshipman’s ship at this website. http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/index.html#search. Put in the name of your mid's ship in a field and it will show you where on the map that ship was at the last time they reported their position. It is generally updated daily.

Our Mission

The mission of the IND/KY/TN USMMA Parents Club is to provide a means of communication between the Academy and the midshipman parents from our States. We do this by offering opportunities for fellowship and mutual support among parents whose sons and daughters are undergoing a rugged academic, physical, and military training program. Our goal is to enhancing the image of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and promote the Academy to others who are interested in attending.
